Latin alphabet is the most commonly used alphabet in the world. Over two billion people use that alphabet. It is over 2000 years old and it originated in the Latium region of Italy. It was spread throughout Europe by Christian missionaries and replaced the indigenous alphabets. The following languages make use of the Latin alphabet
- Romance Languages – Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian
- Germanic Languages – German and English
- Slavic Languages – Polish, Czech and Croatian
Every language has customized the alphabet to suit its needs.
